One Lonely Lass

All alone, alone in this world alas!
So many years have gone so fast.
No one to comfort me, to keep me warm.
No one to keep me away from harm.
Crying alone in my little bed.
My eyes wet with tears bloodshot and red.
I am one lonely lass…
Alas! Alas! Alas!
I reach forward and hope to grasp.
Someone to take me away.
Hoping he’ll whisper and say:
“Poor lonely lass, come with me.
Everything will be alright, don’t you see?
I have finally come for thee.
Will you be my bride to be?”
And as he takes me up in his arms,
I will hold to him safe and warm.
I will look in his eyes and say “yes.”
With everything I hold dear in my breast.
