Mirror

The camera, the camera never lies
The picture holds a face immortal
For everybody’s eyes

But in your mirror your face is yours alone
So why is it that all you see
Is someone you don’t know?

Yes, those are your eyes
And there’s your hair and teeth
But where are those emotions bubbling underneath?

If you look away to hide yourself, hide right away
You wonder if the real you
Could ever resurface another day

You have to look back again, otherwise they’ve won
You take a look to find yourself
But your reflection’s gone.
