Dancing With Myself

And if you have the time
And if you stand a chance
Take off your ballroom gloves
To do a little dance

Not the dance that spins in circles
Always in one way
Move your feet to a new jig
Like a swinger in early May

You take the time to laugh
You take the time to cry
You take the time to think
And you start to question why?

But don’t stop listening now
It’s more than that you see
More than that unfolds
When you take the time to be

And if someone can see
That you wish to reach out
They might have the strength
To stop their lonely pout

People who sit on ivory walls
Are bound to fall way down
Those who dance on water and sand
Are not the ones to drown

Those yellow bricks can stack up
And likewise wall you in
But sand and water wash away
If only with the wind

You are built of sand and water
You aren't made of plastic
So come down off your ivory tower
And society will stop the spastic

You don’t have to laugh
You don’t have to smile
Just stay here and watch me dance
If only for awhile

And later if you want
You can dance here too
But don’t follow my steps
Make up your own tune

So while you watch the waters swirl
And your feet dance in the sea
Splashing life up your legs
And everything underneath

As you let your worries go
And your soul begins to scream
I just wanted you to know
That you’re listening to a dream
