The Time Machine

who's that girl in the looking glass
with the sad smile on her face
a metronome inside her heart
ticking away a steady pace

with gray skies all above the earth
there's no sun to shed the light
winds are screaming warnings
trees trembling with fright

looking at the empty streets
our hearts fill with despair
somewhere in a humble home
a baby's cry wrents the air

the world is on a course for end
this we know to be true
waiting for the darkness to end
a beam of light to shine through

who's that girl in the looking glass
with a sad smile on her face
sorrow in my bleeding heart
I'd be glad to take her place
