Darwin's Best

Democracy's flowing counter-clockwise down the drain,
now it's so easy to cut against the grain.
Word to the wise, look into my eyes,
there's just no way to avoid you're demise.
But do you care? You don't even have to bear,
for you tune it out with all your trivial affairs.
Worrying 'bout shoppin', stoppin', poppin'--
ain't not time to think about the crop, man.
I ask you, tell the truth,
what's becoming of this nation's youth?
Can't turn a corner or go straight down a street
without seeing drugs or people gettin' beat.
Survival of the fittest, as Darwin proclaimed,
seems to be the makeup of society's domain.
And the range, though it may be quite strange,
is all about the up and coming change.
For the better or the worse, hell, we'll never know,
at least not until the tides of time come and go.

Walk through the world, what do you see?
Shades of grey are laughin' back at me.
No emotion, no promise,
no more is the great Rama
No future, no past,
no extremes to contrast.
You want it, you need it,
you don't know better than to heed it.

But what can be done, what can be said?
If you don't start thinkin' now, you're just as good as dead.
