Playing With Matches

If you play around with matches you're bound to get burnt
If you mess around with hearts, someone's gonna get hurt
I'm unsure where I'm going and I don't know where I came
There's only one thing I'm sure of and it's all in a name

I only need one word to describe who I am
That word is more than you could ever understand
It has far too many syllables and no capitals
But I never really was one to play by the rules

So here I am standing with it written on my hands
My story is for you and I hope you'll understand
That my drunk is sober and my love is lust
And If you're still confused, then I'm sorry I mixed up

So raise your glasses to the voice upon the stage
And cut your hair to show you're coming of age
But that's not important, it'll soon show up
I'm not gonna spend my life wasting luck

So if you're still confused, then I'm sorry I mixed up
That my sober is drunk and my heart needs love
Before it becomes an unfriendly ghost and is lost
But from what I've heard a leopard won't change its spots

So it seems I'll be alone for the rest of my life
But it'll all be okay as long as I can sleep at night
My blood's intoxicated and my heart's okay
And as for you, maybe there's another way
