Her Life Story

First there was three, then there was two
Daddy reassured her, momma would be back soon
Little did she remember of her mother
Because momma’s little story was a sweet sweet somber

She blocked out all the memories
All the yells and all the screams
And ones of her crying at night
When momma and daddy got in a fight

But she still remembers that day
When momma walked out that door
And started to walk away
Now momma is no more

She’s sitting in her room
Singing to a tune
In her bed where she lay

Momma’s smoking a lot
In that parking lot
And drinking her life away

“Daddy didn’t pay the bills” they said,
“He was poppin’ those pills instead”
CPS took her away
Now she’s got another remembered day

“Poor little girl stuck alone in this world.”
That’s what they’d probably say
Just because this is in a poem,
Don’t believe it’s just a story
