Transformation

Slowly their transformation begins,
Confident and compassionate changes to self-conscious and oblivious to the world,
Those once loving eyes change to eyes full of hatred and blame,
Singled out just to be hurt, to disappoint.
They become fragile once again, unable to be touched without them recoiling,
Withdrawn, insecure, neglected,
Until those few precious moments where they can escape,
And even then their dream becomes a nightmare,
The subject constantly changing until they find their deepest fear,
Until they can take it no more.
