Untouched

The blood that courses through these veins,
has many times experienced shame.
Broken down to the core,
alone again, forever more.
Bruised and shattered from the inside,
numb and cold on the outside.
Living in a nonexistent world,
making all my dreams come true.
My heart beats rapidly,
the blood starting to clot from the cold.
Sorrow hides behind my perfect act,
many stories behind the fake smile plastered on my face.
I hide everything so well,
praying for it not to fail.
A metal shed surrounds my heart,
protecting it from those who seek to break hearts.
Maybe someday soon, I'll be able to remove my firm exterior,
once again feel as happy as I did before,
until then my heart and soul will remain untouched.
