A Constant Battle

She’s your friend. She’s your enemy.
She loves you. She hates you.
She makes you laugh. She makes you cry.
She’ll hold your hand. She’ll stab your back.
She smiles. She frowns.
She’s honest. She lies.
She’s loyal. She’s a traitor.
She holds your secrets. She lets them out.
She’s kind. She’s cruel.
She’s sweet. She’s sour.
She holds you up. She lets you fall.
She lets you in. She shuts you out.
Her door is open. Her door is closed.
She listens to you. She ignores you.
She laughs with you. She laughs at you.
She’s happy. She’s sad.
She’s an angel. She’s a devil.
She’ll hug you. She’ll shove you off the edge.
She’s a breath of life. She’ll make you gasp for air.
She’ll clean your wounds. She’ll cut them deeper.
She’s a light for others. She leaves you in the dark.
She’ll guide the path. She’ll block the way.
She’ll be your sunshine. She’ll be your overwhelming storm.
She gives all. She takes all.
She helps you win. She makes you lose.
This one that follows me
Is more than she claims to be.
She acts like this,
Then acts like that.
Which way am I to look?
How do I see the real her?
Or is it my fate,
That leaves me destined with her
To wonder aimlessly
As she changes faces
As often as the weather.
