Lest We Forget

Our brothers sailed the open seas,
and flew planes high above the breeze,
and trudged through mud up to their knees,
so peace can stand forever more.

Just trying to fix all that was wrong,
by raging wars, both hard and long.
We still can hear the trumpet's song.
So peace is heard from shore to shore.

For this peace so many died,
so many souls the angels guide,
to sit right up by God's left side,
so peace is felt at heaven's door.

And so we wear our poppies, red,
and remember what our elders said,
'bout things that haunt you till you're dead,
so peace is found right at our core.

Our families sail the open seas,
and fly planes high above the breeze,
and trudge through mud up to their knees,
so peace can stand forever more,
so peace is heard from shore to shore,
so peace is felt at heaven's door,
so peace is found right at our core,
and peace can end the raging war,
the ever, ever raging war.

Will we ever learn,
Lest we forget.
