That’s Entertainment!

(Presenter)
Hello good evening and welcome,
Nice to see you to see you…NICE!
Are you sitting comfortably then we’ll begin…

Hello entertainment my old friend,
Whose desperate boundaries know no end?
And label what we know as pretend,
As reality.
Sitting and watching people sit on settees,
House full of cookie love house full of baddie B’s!
For your money the television does plead!
(Calls from mobiles may cost considerably more)
Entertainment may beckon you in, but beware,
For entertainment does not care,
It your lowest moment of despair,
Is in the morning paper.

Fleeting showcases of desperation to be a star,
No underwear as I exit from a car!
Almighty fame so close, yet dignity so far,
Is this like delusion?

Entertainment you are guilty!
Exposing innocent minds to a world so filthy!
A world full of sex, given too wilfully,
But her…sex sells!

Entertainment you are to blame,
For air heads who long for fame,
Bare their breasts and change their name,
For the ultimate prize!
Entertainment loves you it’s a façade to cover hate,
Don’t miss the headline: Posh has put on weight,
Scrutiny and criticism her only fate,
The lust after life of entertainment.

From good old hangings in the square,
To asylums and laughing at the patients there,
To travelling freak shows who sat while we stare,
That’s entertainment.
To shows that excite, humiliate and depress,
Suppress our dreams and tell us how to dress,
Papers that relish in seeing you look a mess,
That’s entertainment.

Why not enter a holiday showdown or swap your wives?
Audition for X Factor in a desperate hope of changing your lives?
Sell your soul to the press for that 5 minutes of fame and prize?
That’s entertainment!
Entertainment tells us to phone a friend.
You are the Weakest Link GOOD BYE was a national trend,
And here’s one I made earlier could drive you round the bend!
That’s entertainment!

Once upon a time we all loved the theatre
Hamlet, Othello, Macbeth and king lear
Poetic tragedies’ with a message so clear
That’s entertainment!
The beautiful language of Shakespearean tragedy
Let’s journey back through theatres history!

Run, run Orlando carve on every tree,
The fair, the chaste and unexpressive she!

Oh woe is me, woe is me to have seen
What I have seen, to see what I see!

Fair is foul and foul is fair
Hover through the fog and filthy air.

But words are words
I never yet did hear
That the bruised heart was pierced through the ear.

What’s in a name?
That which we call a rose by any other name,
Would smell as sweet.

Beauty ensign yet,
In crimson in thy lips and in thy cheeks.

So whether it’s comedy Lee Evans, Chris Rock or Peter Kay?
Music: Beethoven, the Who’s or Marvin Gaye?
Theatre: Les Mislerabe, Blood Brothers or the Nutcracker ballet
It’s all entertainment!
From stand up, mime or television on a rainy day
The cinema, acrobatics or a good old jolly play!
Some DEGRADING aspects I wish would go away!
But hey you no what they say…..

THAT’S ENTERTAINMENT.
