That Fateful Day

Whatever happened to the way you used to be?
So young, careful and innocent
All until that fateful day.
That's when everything began to change

He used to promise nothing would hurt you,
That everything would remain the same
No, nothing would ever change,
He would always protect you,
All until that fateful day.

No longer was the world seen all bright,
But instead in shades of grey, black and white,
No longer were you big and brave,
But small and so afraid

Now those days have passed,
You still feel small and afraid
But as the years have gone on
You've learned and so have I
How to fake a smile, and stand up tall,
Even if you feel so very small.

How different would your life had been
If that day had not begun?
How would your life had changed
If none of it had happened at all?
What would've happened if
No one was there on that frightful night?
That night when you were about to take your life,
All because of that fateful day.
