Now That You're Gone

Looking back on distant days
I remember lots of things ...
The laughs the fun the jokes the puns
Oh! And the banter and sin!

We never knew a limit
Just wanted to have fun
We'd slag off everything that moved
And now, you're gone.

Did you ever stop to think
On the cold drizzly day
Did you ever wonder,
"Is there anything more to say?"

But I guess that somewhere
Life caught up with you.
Not everyone can go on, mate,
We've all been there, too.

But I wish that you hadn't.
You could have turned away:
Turned around and left
The thing that made so many pay.

Death takes another
Another old friend gone.
There's just one thing I want to know:
I wish I knew what went wrong.

And now as I sit here
With distant memories -
The onnly thing left of you -
This is what I plea:

Wherever you are
Know that we're with you.
You'll never be alone
Because we're walking with you too.
We forgive everything you've done,
And we hope you forgive us
You were a worthy friend
Full of fun and trust.
Thank you for showing
How short life can be:
It's opened our eyes, Tom.
Really made us see.

So now I wonder
Where are we left now?
The sun's gone down and no-one's around
I guess we'll move on ... but how?
