Broken China
She hides behind a mask.
A mask that tells us stop
A mask to hide the child she is
The little girl inside
The little girl who hides
The girl who was bullied
Now she is damaged
She shouts and swears
And drinks and cuts
It makes her feel no better,
It applies her mask thicker
She thinks the whole world is out to get her
That she must fight to stay alive
She can let her guard down to us
And let people know the real her inside
She's a broken soul
That no vodka can heal
No dagger,
No pin,
No poetry can conceal
The little girl that's inside.
Like stepping on eggshells
Constantly, around her
One word out of line
Stay away; she bites
She's a child;
We love her so,
So much though,
She'll never know
A mask that tells us stop
A mask to hide the child she is
The little girl inside
The little girl who hides
The girl who was bullied
Now she is damaged
She shouts and swears
And drinks and cuts
It makes her feel no better,
It applies her mask thicker
She thinks the whole world is out to get her
That she must fight to stay alive
She can let her guard down to us
And let people know the real her inside
She's a broken soul
That no vodka can heal
No dagger,
No pin,
No poetry can conceal
The little girl that's inside.
Like stepping on eggshells
Constantly, around her
One word out of line
Stay away; she bites
She's a child;
