Halloween

On a jet black, cold, autumn night,
Milky white ghosts come out to fight;
Racing kids prepare for trick-or-treating,
Thinking of the candy they’ll be eating;
Sugary, sour, tangy and sweet,
All of these tempting treats!

Walking down the ashen street,
The cold, damp ground crackled beneath my feet;
Gathering my courage, I go up the walk,
And on the dingy, crimson door I begin to knock;
Soon my bag is full of candy, and I’m tired,
But this Halloween I have admired.

Above us all is the shimmering moon,
But all his fun will be done soon;
Crisp, old leaves rustle on the ground,
And now no one makes a sound;
This is all that I have seen,
Of a wonderful Halloween.
