Staring Into Darkness

Staring into darkness
Where once there was light
I feel my heart sinking
Going down without a fight
As the darkness grows
I sit contemplating
And as my heart sinks
I hear it deflating
I sit, all alone
In my tiny room
Planning escape
From this perpetual gloom
It’s happened before
It’ll happen again
Next time I don’t think
My heart will stand the pain
For over and over
The darkness interrupts
My pure state of being
And my heart erupts
To smash and to scream
Is all that I need
To punch at the darkness
To see it bleed
Staring into darkness
Where once there was light
I’ll look on the bright side
I may be alright
