Human Expectation

Skin to skin and palm to palm, I read it in your eyes
Beneath unchartered mahogany dwells the message I despise
Bids me onwards into waters where I have no will to go
Bereft of sailor's legs and compass arrow
This ship shan't sink so low.
Human expectations of burning carnality
And the caress of midnight's dew
To betray the very heart of my being
Is to sacrifice myself to you.
It seems it lies forgotten in love's sweet dedications
They lie down submissively in the face of your expectations
Do not rid me of my humanity
For I am human too
I forever hope to be crossed with love's prosperity
And not sacrificed to you.
