Take it all back
November
The crisp night lightly kisses the back of my neck,
Deliberately sending shivers down my spine.
The breath escapes me,
Making a light color in the air that’s oddly haunting.
So I take it back
I take it all back now.
I feel paralyzed,
Stuck in this moment
But I know I have to move.
Eventually
This twisted wreckage before me smolders,
Filling my lungs with smoke
But not for the last time.
The police lights appear up the road,
I know they’re coming for the survivor.
Me?
I dig my heels into the dirt and
Think.
There’s no time to think.
I run.
Kicking up bits of sand,
Leave it all behind me.
And although I know I can’t,
I take it back.
I take it all back now.
The crisp night lightly kisses the back of my neck,
Deliberately sending shivers down my spine.

Making a light color in the air that’s oddly haunting.

I take it all back now.
