the one to blame

the moon falls
the sun up to blaze
cars pass by
warmth creating haze

she who craves
the cool fallen moon
is struggling not to give into
the guilty heat of gloom

stolen was what she'd done
a heart then a truth then a fight
no one knew who to accuse
and she even took his rights

the right to love
the right to know
the right to live
she'd sunk too low

he walked in on them
and her the wrong path
she felt disloyal
and he her wrath

when he found out
he could have run
instead he cried when
she found that gun

it was shot twice
her secret was safe
though not his life
but it was too late

in the end it came down to her
knowing she had done wrong
lying in the shadows crying listening
to her hearts staggered song

she loved him and she knew it
yet she longed for another
she killed the first forgetting that
the second was his brother

his funeral was skipped
by this girl he loved
she said she was sick
the truth is the boy was robbed

robbed of his love
of his truth and life
robbed of the trust
that was stabbed with a knife

robbed of the girl
by his own brother
thats a minor detail because
that girl had commited murder

murder of his also her innocence
of his kiss and her sanity too
all because she fell too fast
so much harder than she should

his voice is gone
the truth buried with him
and who does he see up there
but the girl who had killed him

her wrists are shattered
dripping with blood
he sees what she had done
by guilt she was overrun

there are tracks on her face
and pain in her eyes
he sees in her chest
that a bullet writhes

forgiveness is what she wants
exactly what hell forbid
which is why she is here
on the cloud soul morbid

he wont give it
its not deserved
she understands
she says she heard

the lesson is taught
