Untitled For Now

You are the chipped polish on my nails
You are the broken skin on my palms
You are the tan upon my shoulders
You are the wrinkles near my eyes
With me you tend to be impatient
With me you tend to be unkind
With me you tend to tap your toes
With me you are aware of time
Together we make clouds of smoke
Together we become what we despise
Together we create aching temples
But apart we feel our demise
I am the hidden rocks in your sand
I am the falling flaming tree
I am the lightly falling feathers
I am the ring behind your ear
You are the hand stretched out to help
I am the earth beneath your feet
We scream with tired eyes
That I need you and you need me.
