Theater

Welcome to the theater
Where everything is what it looks like
But nothing is what it seems
The stage is set up
Bright light illuminate

The actors arrive
Masks on their face
They are the puppets
Attached by stings
And loose wood

The puppeteer comes
Dressed in all black
Behind the scenes
No one can see
The evil smirk that lights his face

You watch memorized
The story is amazing
The plot so dark and twisted
The grief so apparent
The ending so near
You can’t help but fear

But then it becomes apparent
This isn’t just any normal show
As you watch closer
You realize
This is your life

You’re the main actor
The puppet on the strings
Wearing a mask no one can see through
Someone pulling your strings

You can’t shake the feeling
That something bad is going to happen
You jump to your feet
To find that you can’t move
You’re still in your seat

The ending of course is a horror itself
A shriek
A rain of blood
All is lost

The red curtain closes
Signaling the end
The audience is dark
Nothing moves nothing breaths

You reach to your side
You swore someone was there
Nothing is felt
A dark laugh sounds

There was a single rule
A curse upon this stage
Its actors are corpses
Raised from the dead

To watch a show
Is to watch your life
The ending so clear
You may enter with your will
But you can never leave

The silence is deafening
Like a knife to your side
Your breathing is all that you hear
A tap at your side as you turn to look

The puppeteer stands
That smile still upon his face
Menacing and you know
That you signed a contract by entering these walls

He tilts his head to the side
The whites of his eyes shine
As he says a single line
“welcome to the crew”
