Ean's Turtles

"Lead me through the forest,
and past the city limits sign.
Take me to the creek
please, just one last time?

I only want to see the turtles,
and watch them crawl on the shore."
Now with a hint of desperation
he says "I want nothing more."

"Let's watch them dive in the brook
and trace their tracks in the sand."
Tearfully taking my wrist he says
"Please help me understand?"

"Lets go climb the rocks!
So I can see them float around.
I won't scare them away this time
hysterically now,"I won't make a sound."

But it's time to leave,
and for where Im not sure.
We can't see the turtles today.
Tomorrow will only bring more.

I know you don't believe me,
but this is for the best.
Oh Don't cry Ean,
I'll beg and plead,
just try to understand what I say,
would you do that for me?

I'll keep walking through the forest,
and cross paths with the city limits sign.
I'll venture on down to the creek,
but I'm regrettably alone this time.
