Tomorrow (Second Chances)

Delicate whispers of “I love you”
Flutter in the midnight breeze
As fragile as a butterfly’s wings
Now forgotten, as one becomes two

Like a busy street light
Their love halted abruptly
As the short lived green light, skipped yellow
Turned to crimson, so sudden and bright

These two hearts no longer beat
Forever suspended in time
Like frozen glaciers in winter wastelands
A love, seemingly obsolete

“Just leave me wishing on a shooting star
Let me run away from this disaster called love
So as long as I’ll forget in time,
And that his voice and face, will leave me far,”

She whispers in a star studded sky
Like shattered glass scattered
Amongst a canvas of midnight black
Wondering, “why this ending, why?”

And no matter how much she tries
All the time in the world
Would never let her be free
Of what she once believed, that she found to be lies

And then, passionate whispers of “I love you”
Flits across the sunset horizon
Stronger than the force of gravity
Rekindled, like lovers love always do
