Candle

Why does it seem
That this world is shrouded?
Why does sorrow reign
And innocence is doubted
It’s not too late
It never was
But at this rate
We’ll need a miracle

Maybe we’re like candles
Waiting to be lit
Wanting to be set aflame
Yet in the dark we sit
Though we want to burn, to put shooting stars to shame
We need a match held to our wick
A cause which we blaze for
And what better purpose can we pick
Then lighting someone’s darkness

And I choose to be a lantern
For anyone who needs to hear
That not everything has the same old pattern
And sometimes it’s not their burden to bear
I can show you what you could be
If only you will listen
Are you willing to learn from me?
Maybe we’ll find hope for you yet

You see I want to be a candle
But I still need to be lit
I want to be set aflame
But in the darkness I sit
One day I’ll put shooting stars to shame
I have a cause to blaze for
So who needs the fame?
All I want to do change
What this world has become
Revive what has become strange
And provide some inspiration
