For Me

Sometimes it’s chance when you meet on the street
Sometimes fate can bring you together
Goodness knows what made you come to me
But whoever you are, I will thank forever

My heart was pounding on that ordinary day
Though also quite so unordinary from what they say
When two sets of eyes and all the crap
Well I guess it happened to me, it’s a fact

The two of us are both as shy as each other
When we both went, to run for cover
We hid in the same place, and smiled gently
He held my hand from where I felt eventually

The redness rose to my cheeks when I did
But he turned my head and smiled like a kid
His green eyes twinkling in the soft light
I thought I was in heaven, never so bright

We stayed there all night, hoping to be safe
From the silence later, we emerged from our cave
Holding hands still, though brushing off the dirt
His smiled again at me, even though he was hurt

From where he bumped his head to mine
We both comforted each other, his hand in mine
We turned to each other slowly, lights in heaven
Maybe he was anxious, possibly scared even

He wrote his number on my hand, told me to call
I knew from the time tonight, we would have a ball
When we parted, my heart cried for him
Just to touch my hand or kiss me, on a whim

I laid in my bed that night, him on my mind
When I sighed heavily from him being so kind
When we didn’t say a word to each other
Though we knew everything but nothing

That night was the beginning for me
For all the rest of my life for me
Me on him arm always for me
And his love always, for me
