Selfishness

Mysteries and shady figures scar my past,
I've never had anything good that seems to last.
I heard a bird the other day,
It wished that I would go away.
And so I'm sitting here right now,
Picturing them without a sound,
My mind is counting seconds on the clock,
This ship has slowly left it's dock.
The itching won't leave,
It's under my skin, a perfect sleeve.
And so I cut and scrape and bleed,
Selfishness I do not need.
Let me go, let me go,
I do not wish to know,
Your secrets and your jealousies,
Your thoughts and insecurities.
I've listened, listened far too long,
I've known the outcome all along.
And so I cut and scrape and bleed,
Your selfishness I do not need.
