Mattress & Frame

An upturned mattress,
next to its upturned frame.
It looks dusty and dirty,
propped up against the wall.
It looks lonely, and calm.
The frame looks the same, condition-wise,
the frame is decorated with cobwebs, as well.
I bet if you were to lean over and sniff the mattress,
it would smell dusty and dirty,
and the frame would smell, rusty, metallic.
If you licked it, tasted it, I'm almost sure
that you would taste the dirt, dust, mold, grime
on that mattress.
And the frame would taste of rust, metal, dirt.
And if you were to tip over the frame,
and place the mattress on it,
And lay, it might feel stiff...
I'm sure it would feel stiff,
and the collecting dirt may cause it to feel gritty,
and disgusting.
The rusting springs might make the mattress seem about to collapse,
the mattress would be wary, scared of your weight.
"Don't let me break!" It would think.
And if you were to run your finger along the frame,
it might feel cold, steely, and flaky.
No, not might, it WILL feel cold, steely, and flaky.
The mattress is silent, but if you put your weight on it,
I'm sure it would creak.
And if you flicked the frame,
it would cry out, ring loudly, in that metallic tone that you would expect.
The mattress and the frame, for now, they are serene,
for now, they are calm,
and for now, they are alone.
