Twas Night Before Last One...

Twas the night before last one, or maybe before that
Not a mortal was stirring, not even a rat;
The place was locked up, or so we thought,
We had no idea a battle would be fought;
They came in pairs, dozens, and more,
When I looked at them I knew I’d be sore;
They looked us over with eyes glowing red,
And soon everyone was filled with terror and dread;
They came at us with speed beyond compare,
At times it looked like they came out of thin air;
Silent as night they crept toward their prey,
Mentally we all wished they would all go away;
They came from the left and they came from the right,
While all of us fought them back with all our might;
His teeth pierced my neck and I screamed in pain,
Were all my attempts to fight back in vain?
Flames coursed though my blood when I tried to move,
With a sinking feeling I knew I would lose;
My ears became alert and I opened my eyes,
What I saw next was a big surprise;
There was Edward and Dimitri and Erik and Mason,
Around me was Damien and Jasper and Emmet and Jason;
I looked around with my newly heightened senses,
The vampires loomed around me like tall ,hot, fences;
As I met their gaze, I knew I was secure,
I felt nothing but love, nothing is as pure;
The vampires sparkled in the mornings first light,
Few have ever seen such a beautiful sight;
I looked at my arms and what a sight to behold, my skin was like theirs, just as glittery and cold;
Now I was one of them, no longer human and needy,
I was now beautiful, strong, and really, really speedy;
The sound of a newcomers footsteps rang in my ear
I looked over and his expression was perfectly clear;
His arms drew my body right next to his own,
It was in that moment I knew I would never be alone;
His eyes were like the calm before the storm,
Even though his arms were cold, I felt so warm;
What happened next was the day’s highlight,
I stayed by his side till well after twilight;
With a bat of our eyes here and a stolen kiss there,
We told each other everything, with nothing to spare;
He broke away and looked deep into my eyes,
And whispered “For you, my love, I have a surprise.”
He tucked me in his arms and carried me away,
To a place where we would forevermore stay;
We ran though the forest at incredible speed,
I ran behind while he took the lead;
He lead me away to a wonderful clearing,
Where I felt all my troubles disappearing;
The sunlight beamed down from above on high,
The tree tops around us brushed the sky;
We stood under an elegant pine,
He pulled me close and told me he was mine;
“Forever” he whispered “I’ll stay with you,”
And my life felt as if it had begun anew.
