After Today

My eyes are watery,
despair reigns in my soul.
But my heart is clouded,
anger and hurt are on patrol.

I stare at a picture of us,
wondering what ‘we’ meant to you.
You tell me we belong together,
but sometimes I think you don’t have a clue.

Can’t you feel the pressure,
building between us now?
This is not going to work out,
I don’t know how.

If you really loved me,
you’d make me smile instead of frown.
If you really loved me,
you’d pick me up instead of knocking me down.

I’m tired of you needing space,
I’m tired of you going away.
I’m tired of reliving our on and off’s;
every time is just the same replay.

I have no more chances
to give out.
After what you did last time,
you deserve the doubt.

After today,
I’m going to tell you the truth, for:
After today,
I don’t want to hurt no more.

After today,
I don’t care how you’ll flirt.
After today,
I won’t care how you hurt.

After today,
I won’t let you trample over me no longer.
After today,
I will be stronger.
