I want you to read this,
Though I know you never will,
I can’t bear to do it,
I can’t bear to hurt you
I can’t let you see
How much pain you caused

The Depression,
The Pain,
The Denial,
The Shame.

You hurt us quite badly,
It was covered for a while
We hid from ourselves
We hid from the world
We made up stories
To protect each other

The Masks
The Pretense
The Lies
The Defense

We grew apart, blamed each other
Not for what you did,
But everything that followed,
Alone and separated,
There was no help at all
Nothing with which to protect ourselves

The Arguments
The Fears
The accusations
The Tears

But we got stronger
United against a cause
A sole person to blame
A place to focus on
We forgave each other
We forged what we have

The Love
The Relief
The Friendship
The Belief

But you failed us again
You didn’t deliver
Promised us answers,
But provided only lies
Showed us again
Why we couldn’t trust you

The loss
The Pain
The Determination
The Gain

We lost our father
But gained each other
We refused to fall again
To hate each other
We compromised, we decided
And at last, we prevailed

The Choices
The Acceptance
The Agreement
The Balance
