August Sunshine

Quiet.
I hear the steady beat of my heart
The rhythm of my body and soul.
The smell of pine fills my nose
I hear the small, distant whirring of an air-conditioner
banishing the august heat.

Basking in the sun of this fantastic day
I remember the beauty of such things.

The clear blue sky
stretching endlessly above me,
flecked with aimless white clouds floating about.

The soft grass
gently caressing my skin,
as I lie in the warm glow all around me

Just as a tender breeze rustles the pines
I open my eyes,
returning to the harsh Ice and wind.

Ready to await August sunshine.
