Forever

For once upon a time,
Statues of great stories and kingdoms watched over us,
Their legacies untouched in spite of modern madness
Statues damned to fall in to the abyss,
Fall in to the darkness of a broken devil.

For once I loved you,
Just one time I held you in our lifetimes,
There was nothing I could say, nothing I could do,
Because home is burning behind your eyes.
You clawed your eyes out trying to find it
To touch the untouchable, find the lost souls of humanity.
So alien in our day, yet so agonisingly human it hurts.

You look like nothing more than a child hidden by their own shadow
So cold, so dark and so untouchable it hurts.
You stand, like a statue damned to fall, unaffected by the liberation of foreign lands.
For life is the slow path, and you are damned to walk it with us.
Eyes dancing with demons, tainted with immortality, the inability to die.
The former angel who danced with demons was resurrected.

One day we will walk in the snow and be unseen.
The person captured in your eyes is not you anymore,
Rise from the ashes of a soldier and declare peace.
Submit to eternity, ride all the way to the end in solitude.
Let the end consume you and fall in to sleep.
Imagine a story ending and place yourself in the pages of history books.

For we who are inferior seem to fall in to a peaceful sleep while any rest you get is lonely.
An everlasting depression spanning a thousand lifetimes,
While we fall, screaming at the impending darkness, you surrender your will to death and yet still live forever.
For this is vengeance not mercy, all must die and all eventually will.
An alien anomaly with a human face, eyes that speak the words of the soul long since dead.
For we are merely the humans that will never awaken again, you are a fixed point that will live to cry again.

One last dance in to the burning moonlight, all is dying now, all that was constructed is now being dismantled, and this is the end of forever.
Sleep now, all is forgiven, no eyes will look upon you in horror again.
Close your eyes, they don’t need to speak anymore, I can hear you.
We’ll start again; we’ll laugh again, smile again and love again.
Accept the darkness; let the dark consume your madness and we’ll start again.
I’ll finish this story for you; don’t write another word, the walls are collapsing and you survived.

Your name will not be spoken by another.
