Closure

I've tried my best to understand
Your lies, the pain you caused me,
But not one drop of deepest regret
Have you offered, just to set me free.

People change, like time
Or seasons moving from winter to spring,
But you haven't done so with the gradual grace
Which changing seasons always bring.

An explanation, some open regard
Is all it would ever take,
But it's not the path you choose to tread,
And so these decisions you continue to make.

You were a friend whom I thought was forever,
A steady pillar I could fall back on,
But my own pillar I've had to build
To keep me where I'm coming from.

If that one sacrifice had you made,
A different life we both would lead,
But sorrow keeps me from moving on;
All I ask is for closure, it's all I need.
