Old Self

As she looks at herself she realizes that it is not herself that she sees
It is some person that resembles who she was
There is no light in her eyes like there was before
Now they reflect all the lies she has to tell to keep people from worrying
There is no heart
For it was shattered by a boy who couldn’t bring himself to care enough
Her hair has changed from its light bouncy self to reflect her soul
Dull and lifeless
She wishes she was her
She wishes she didn’t have to pretend.
