Let Me Go

Sometime you gotta let me go,
I've been beside you for so damn long,
And I need to feel the wind on my face,
Need to be told that it wasn't me who was wrong.

I still need that reassurance,
Like a kid game of hide-and-seek,
I have to know it wasn't me who did it,
But that it was a joint effort.

I know of some people here,
They say that I'm bein' real stupid,
Worrying about what hasn't yet come,
But when it does, I tell you, they'll be the ones who are sorry.

Let me get out there and breathe,
Let my lungs catch the precious air,
Give me something to keep me going,
And I promise you I'll always be there.

What did it for us?
What was it that made us fall apart like this?
Was it you or I?
I wanna know what went wrong.

So we can change that,
And make it into something better,
Let's turn this mess around,
And give it another shot.

We both need the chances,
And we're both gonna grab them,
Just tell me what I need to do,
And I'll stick with you forever and ever more.
