Her Broken Heart

Image

She tapped her foot impatiently,
Time was going much too slowly.
She looked around, her eyes were searching.
Might it be he wasn’t coming?
She thought of the times they’d spent,
Could he be trying to send a hint?

She bit her lip as time passed.
Was he on his way, perhaps out of gas?
She couldn’t guess, she didn’t know.
She kept wondering why he’d not show.
She could wait no longer, she decided that night,
She had to go, she knew what was right.

So she left alone into the rain.
She decided she’d never make the mistake again.
The rain ruined her dress, make-up messed by her tears.
Her heart again broken, it had been in her fears.
He’d been wrong; he’d never been true.

…But think how she dressed for you
