Slowly Growing Lighter

She stands silently,
In the steady rain,
Waiting for light to find her,
In the darkness she calls life.
She cries with the rain,
Alone and depressed,
Wanting more from life,
Believing she can make it worthwhile.
By hanging on to every shred of hope,
Wishing on every star,
Taking every day head-on,
Dreaming with all she has.
She will survive,
Every day,
And every night,
The darkness slowly growing lighter.
