Finally Met Our End

We were so little,
Playing on the tire swing,
Just me and you,
Not caring what the future may bring.

We spent all our time together,
You were my one true friend,
Better than all the rest,
Someone I could turn to in the end.

But one day,
We grew apart,
And when you wouldn’t look at me,
The gesture ripped out my heart.

I got more friends,
They were so different from you,
From you and your habits,
And they were never as true.

They used to tease me,
About us,
Though I always refused,
They made such a fuss.

I had never thought of us,
Never as something more,
Such thoughts,
Had never crossed my mind before.

But now I think,
Was it you and not I,
Who made this friendship,
Slowly fade and die?

You like a brother,
A true friend,
But now I see this friendship,
Has finally seen its end.
