Permanent Tattoo

If I had another chance to tell you,
I'd say how much I really care,
And how I loved the feeling when I knew you grew your hair.
I'd make sure you knew the impact you had in my life,
Cause I knew I could count on you to help me through my strife.
I'd tell you how much you meant to me,
And say "I love you," thats for sure
And I'd tell you how I want you near to me forever more.

I'd tell you that you're perfect,
In each and every way,
And tell you not to listen to a single word they say.
I'd tell you that im sorry at least a thousand times, and bore you silly with my always everlasting rhymes.
I'd make you look to the future and forget about your past,
And help you with your memories, into the fire they'd be cast.

I'd make you draw me a dragon, (your favourite kind of course)
And make you frown by saying, "Its just a spiky horse!"
And then I'd make you smile with me,
By pinning it on my wall and say to all my family, "Come look! Come one and all!"

Then would come the ending, the goodbye we'd dread the most,
But I would smile and try to stay the ever gracious host.
I'd pat you on the back and say "Love, its not forever. I know you'll come and visit me during foggy weather."
I'd pull you close to me, by God I'd hold you tight, then raise my head, wink at you,
And I'd kiss you with all my might.

But now you're gone my darling dear,
My heart goes with you too.
For all that's left is your name in my head,
A permanent tattoo.
