To mask emotion

Without a face, some one walks

On a dreary, weary night.

And a silent whisper heard

Slowly fills the void

The moon, the stars

They seem so close

Yet so far out of reach.

I wander on, until dawn

I find what lurks beneath

Without a shadow of a doubt

Breathing steadies from running pace

Into shallow gasps.

For what I see in front of me

Is but a human mask.
