For A Friend

She closes her eyes,
And picks up her knife,
As she cries.

The pain takes hold,
She cannot let go,
Her heart is cold.

Her blood is violent red,
The blade cuts deep,
Tears are shed.

She’s ready to let go,
To leave this world,
But little does she know.

I worry about her day and night,
Wishing I could help,
Help make it right.

I want to stop the tears,
Let her cry on my shoulder,
Banish all her fears.

From the shadows, I scream,
But she doesn't see me,
As if I were a dream.

Yet, I call myself a friend,
When I can’t save the one so close to me,
From her dark end.
