Fallen Petals

Everything seems so perfect
The delicate petals of a rose
From that tiny seed, a tiny bud
And then the beauty grows

The colour – a deep and smooth, close red
With velvet touch and soft silk feel
But soon this red must one day fade
So at your grave I now do kneel

I let the petals fall gently in
And twist, and twirl, like we used to dance
And then they stay there, still as you
The last sign of a long romance

As the final petals fall gently in
So my tears fall softly on the ground

And I am left
To pick up
The fallen
Petals
Of my
Life.
