A Shadow
She sits alone in a corner
Crying to herself in sorrow
She looks up at a shadow
And then turns her back
Turning her back on her past
She cries out for help
The only one who comes is a shadow
She knows the shadow is nothing
It was what she used to be
She used to be happy
She used to be kind
Now she's a shell
Of her former self
The shadow lingers
Wishing to return
She pushes it away
She turns her back
Black tears cry
From the eyes of the shadow
Similar tears
Leak from her eyes
Then the time finally comes
Where she embraces the shadow
They cry together and forgive
She clears her soul
The shadow is her
She accepts herself
So where is my shadow?
And why can't I accept myself?
Crying to herself in sorrow
She looks up at a shadow
And then turns her back
Turning her back on her past
She cries out for help
The only one who comes is a shadow
She knows the shadow is nothing
It was what she used to be
She used to be happy
She used to be kind
Now she's a shell
Of her former self
The shadow lingers
Wishing to return
She pushes it away
She turns her back
Black tears cry
From the eyes of the shadow
Similar tears
Leak from her eyes
Then the time finally comes
Where she embraces the shadow
They cry together and forgive
She clears her soul
The shadow is her
She accepts herself
So where is my shadow?
And why can't I accept myself?
