Dancing in the Rain

It’s really not that complicated.
It’s much more simple than you like to make it seem.
I’m just the one that you woke up from,
But one day, you’ll remember how to dream.

We were dancing in the fire
When it started pouring rain.
Though you were cleansed of me,
I was left with your stain.

You never really cared for me
The way I cared for you.
But sometimes I still hear your voice
Telling me to choose.

You left me standing in the shadow
While you burst into the light.
How could you, so radiant,
Love me, a creature of the night?

What sort of choice is that?
I really could not follow.
For you are so full of life,
But I yet am hollow.

And so for now, forget me.
I’ll only cause you pain.
Live your life of sunlight,
While I keep dancing in the rain.
