Lucky Day

Green scrawls across my face
"Kiss me I'm Irish"
No takers yet, what a waste
Until HE comes just to say hi
I've forgotten the statement
Until he points and asks "why?"
A quick explanation and he smiles so sweetly
And I stare in amazement
While he leans in discreetly
A soft peck on the cheek
Red burns around the green letters
The simple gesture is enough to make me weak
No thoughts can run through my head
I couldn't think and I turned without a word
And saw down the hall my friend to me bade
Come closer I can't believe that it
A stupid grin is plastered on my face as it lit
Like the sun in a hot summer day
She grinned as I could barely make out through a haze
And asked me, what did you say?
I could only respond with my new favorite phrase,
"Kiss me I'm Irish"
