My Bitter Addiction

The bitterness is an acquired taste,
Try it again, again, just one more time,
Watch as the taste becomes you,
Another one to drink away.

Take a swig of hurt,
Meet the fate of pushover,
Breathe in the scent of arrogance,
Suffocate on the kindly liars.

Their faces appear welcoming,
But the bitterness you drink
Exposes the darkness in their eyes
Screaming their disappointment.

The repulsion is hard to ignore,
But the fear of alone is harder still,
Accept the drink of never enough,
Sip it slowly to feed your latest addiction.
