Fake smiles are underrated.

Oh, darling, that pearly white smile is beautiful,
But won't you make it real for once in your life?
Living a lie, you've been living a lie!
Smiling while you slice with the knife!

You smile but you don't know just what it means.
You practice, oh, you practice day and night.
And you smile through tears and pain and hurt,
And pretend that you are alright!

But I can see that you're just a liar,
You're just a fake as far as I can tell.
I know you'd rather not be smiling,
You'd much rather be in Hell.

Oh, honey, your pretty grin means nothing to me,
If you don't put heart into it, my dear.
And I fear that fake/forced smiles are bad,
Fake and forced smiles are horrid, I fear.

So next time you get a picture of yourself,
Those teeth show, as white as a dove.
So next time you get a photograph of yourself,
Smile like you mean it, love.
