Rest

Two sweeps of a pendulum
Exclaim their cries into the air
Proving to the coroner
Time's up, there's nothing there

The echoes of the birds say
There's an empty pestilence
Requesting, bid you a good day,
But please, do be silent

All through that horrid winter
Where a soul came to its ends
A hallow structure, lost and barren
Became a sole protection

Morphine couldn't numb it out
Enough to stop her screams
As haunting images sought her out
Lost, but not redeemed

Weeps in horror with her child
Understanding not the problem
Wide eyes darkened with antipathy
A mouth, fervent and solemn

Comes to draw where horizon meets earth
Where river and ocean collide
Comes to rest where mountain meets valley
Where water meets land and sky.

Three drops of rain hit the pavement
With an eerie quiet to follow
Alerting to the deity
What they've come to bestow

Morphine couldn't numb it out
Enough to stop her screams
As haunting images sought her out
Lost, but not redeemed

Weeps in horror with her child
Understanding not the problem
Wide eyes darkened with antipathy
A mouth, fervent and solemn

Comes to draw where horizon meets earth
Where river and ocean collide
Comes to rest where mountain meets valley
Where water meets land and sky.

For here came peace, and here came rest
And here came quiescent bliss
And here came love, and here came sleep,
And deep in this abyss

The celestials come, they drink and eat
They dance, they laugh, they smile
And along the river, the daughter of Hope,
Such a young, angelic child

Comes to draw where horizon meets earth
Where river and ocean collide
Comes to rest where mountain meets valley
Where water meets land and sky..
