Tribute to Uncle Tommy

Farewell is the scariest word to whisper,

Carrying red roses, coated in the blood you no longer shed.

A tear for every word I never got to say,

And bitter smiles for every joke you ever shared.

Too gone, too soon with no goodbyes,

And no coming back.

“I love you” doesn’t speak it all,

But it should’ve been said.

No chance for one last hug,

Just a slowed breath faded until gone.

Sweet songs sung just for you,

In a room overflowing with admirers.

Words whispered in remembrance

Of a gift taken much too soon, much too fast.
